  • The accounting equation, Equity = Assets – Liabilities
  • The definitions of equity, assets and liabilities
  • Understanding the Balance Sheet, Income Statement and Cash Flow Statement

    • Starting a company
    • Depreciation of assets
    • Inventory and cost of sales
    • The accrual system and that profits are different to cash

You’ll also have the opportunity to discuss the essentials of:

Financial Analysis and Management Accounting

  • Different uses of financial statements.
  • The various tools to analyse the financial performance and position of a company.
  • The weakness of using financial statements as a source of information for decision-making and to take this into account when analysing financial statements
  • Articulate the role and purpose of Management Accounting and understand the types of information that are useful for management.
  • Identify the costs associated with debt and equity financing.
  • Appreciate the nature and uses of budgets.
